So many of you have asked about the "acupuncture face lift" (a.k.a., the face lift with needles) and we are pleased to announce that Turning Point's Dorene Hyman, MS, LAc. will now be offering this exclusive service at our office. Dorene has trained extensively in this field and will be doing these special procedures by appointment only.

Facial Rejuvenation and Constitutional Acupuncture
Who we are and how we live our lives is written on our faces. As time passes, and physical, spiritual, and emotional changes occur, our faces reflect our transformation. The Chinese have practiced facial rejuvenation for centuries. The royalty of the Sung Dynasty (960AD - 1270AD) performed cosmetic acupuncture to help health and beauty from within radiate to the outside. Through acupuncture, Constitutional Facial Renewal can help rejuvenate your body and revitalize your being to look and feel your best.
Constitutional Facial Renewal is a treatment developed by the noted acupuncturist Mary Elizabeth Wakefield. There are two beneficial aspects to this treatment. One is a "root" treatment, which regulates the flow of energy (qi) and removes blockages in the meridians (channels of qi and blood) to improve overall health and restore balance to the body. This constitutional treatment addresses underlying causes, like digestive problems, hormonal imbalance and emotional stress, which become reflected in the face. The other is a local treatment, which directly affects facial appearance. Since many of the meridians begin or end on the face, there is an increase in circulation of blood, lymph and qi to the face that aids in moistening and creating a radiant color and glow to the skin.
Facial acupuncture increases collagen production, thereby reducing fine lines and diminishing deep wrinkles. It improves overall facial tone, by stimulating weakened muscle fibers and relaxing overwrought muscle tensions. This effectively minimizes double chins, firms up jowls, reduces frown lines and bags under the eyes. It also lifts droopy eyelids and eliminates facial puffiness.
Facial acupuncture is an excellent alternative to invasive procedures such as cosmetic surgery or botox injections. It is safe, basically painless, and has no risks or side effects.
The recommended course of treatment is between 10 -12 sessions, and should be done1-3 times a week. A treatment lasts about 75 - 90 minutes.
Each session begins with an herbal poultice to hydrate and tonify the face, and is followed by a constitutional treatment. For the actual facial treatment, extremely fine needles are inserted to affect the muscles and collagen of the skin. Next, a renewal masque is applied to penetrate and astringe the tissue, followed by an antioxidant cream combined with essential oils. This is massaged into the skin by a light emitting diode and jade rollers, which provide nourishment and stimulate cellular reproduction.
Dietary, facial exercises & general lifestyle advice is also an integral part of treatment.
Since each individual is unique, the response to treatment will vary depending on your age and lifestyle. Generally, results are noticeable after 6-7 sessions, although a radiant complexion and brightness in the eyes can be seen after the first treatment. Maintenance is recommended once each month.

2. Infertility Events
Helping couples achieve their dream of creating a family has been a big part of the work we have done in recent years at Turning Point.

Monthly Free Workshop:
Acupuncture and Reiki for Fertility
Presenters:

Reiki Master Lourdes Guzman
Join us for a monthly series of free events designed to introduce women to the benefits of Chinese medicine and Reiki for fertility, at the office of Turning Point Acupuncture. All women hoping to become pregnant are welcome to join us!
Beginning at 11:00 am, Amanda and Lourdes will give an informal overview of how acupuncture and Chinese herbs, along with Reiki, can be helpful in increasing your potential for conception. The discussion, including Q & A, will last until approximately 12:15 pm. This will be followed by a free sample acupuncture treatment consisting of ear acupoints designed for calming and relaxation.
At 1pm, Lourdes Guzman will lead participants in a Reiki healing circle and meditation. This ongoing group will provide a safe space for the exploration of some of the more challenging emotional and energetic aspects of the quest for fertility. The group will also be designed for building mutual support and a positive outlook during the often difficult odyssey of trying to become pregnant.

Office Updates:
The Turning Point Acupuncture office is open six days a week, Monday - Saturday.
Our Saturday hours are changing. Patients will now be seen from 11 am - 2 pm with Amanda Silver.
Reiki continues to be available Saturday mornings with Reiki Master Lourdes Guzman.
